Tacloban City – A training on Project Development and Management was successfully conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 last November 7-9, 2018 at Rosvenil Hotel, Burgos Street, Tacloban City.
The three-day capacity building activity was attended by thirty-seven (37) LGU PESO Managers, livelihood program managers and employment and livelihood committee chair from the seven (7) provinces of the region. Said training was aimed at providing the participants the knowledge, skills and attitudes in project management and development of innovative livelihood projects.
DOLE RO8 Director Yahya A. Centi graced the training and in his inspirational message encouraged all the participants to become more creative in the preparation of their livelihood proposals.
He said, “I challenge all of you to become better in the area of project development. I hope this training will enable you to come up with projects that are suitable and innovative aside from being compliant to the criteria set by our existing guidelines.”
Director Centi likewise emphasized on the importance of the Accredited Co-Partners (ACPs) for the successful implementation of DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) in the region. Also, he thanked the pool of resource persons for sharing their expertise/
The team of Dr. Severo Blanco III, Prof. Darwin Navarosa and Prof. Timoleon S. Lianza from the College of Business Entrepreneurship of Eastern Visayas State University served as the resource speakers and facilitators during the entire training. Participants were taught how to prepare feasible projects as well as financial statements.
The conduct of the training was one of the ways to equip the prospective ACPs of DOLE Region 8 with appropriate competencies for them to be able to provide complete support to the program, as well as to keep them abreast with current trends in livelihood promotion.
Aside from workshop and learning sessions, the training was capped with the participants’ signing of pledge of commitment to submit and monitor project proposals in order to build a sustainable community livelihood projects.
