Ormoc City – Employee receives Php 1,000,000.00 as settlement from her employer through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA) after only two conferences held in January 2016.
SEnA, as initiated by no less than Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz, once again proved its worth to be the best option in handling employer-employee disagreements in the workplace. This reform in dispute settlement provides for a 30-day mandatory conciliation-mediation procedure of all employer-employee related issues brought before the DOLE and aims for a just, expeditious and inexpensive settlement of labor disputes. The complete Rules of Procedures are contained in DOLE’s DO 107-Series of 2010.
“I really appreciate how the West Leyte Field Office of DOLE ROVIII handled my request for assistance, showing impartiality in the course of the conciliation. I am so happy that I was able to achieve my main purpose in coming to DOLE and that is to receive what’s due me. At his point, I am just so thankful.” the requesting party said in an interview (in Bisaya dialect).
“We were pleased with how the SEnA helped us in arriving at fair agreements. We somewhat expected the process to be a battle but it turned out to be a friendly meeting.”, said one of the representatives of the responding party. The responding party on one hand expressed their gratitude over this procedure as both parties are able to come up with a settlement without going through a lengthy procedure and which eventually still maintained their good relations with the requesting party.
Both parties expressed their commendation to DOLE who professionally entertains clients even during lunchtime which they experienced when they came to the office for the conference. They appreciated the very conducive environment the DOLE provided for the settlement. In the minutes duly signed by both parties, the SEADO wrote: “Parties left this office with smiling faces,..”
“I acknowledge the responding party’s respect on our SEnA program who immediately upon initial notice sent representatives to listen to the concerns of the requesting party. And also, I appreciate both parties for recognizing SEnA as the best option to handle their concerns.”, Chief of West Leyte Field Office (WLFO) Marites Z. Viñas happily said. She emphasized that the settlement would not have been possible if not for the cooperation of both parties.
“What was thought to be a lengthy and dragging process to be faced by both parties in a SEnA was negated in this experience and I would like to recognize both parties and of course our SEnA Desk Officers for yielding a peaceful and productive negotiation after only 2 conferences.”, Regional Director Elias A. Cayanong said.
Parties to the above experience requests for anonymity which DOLE also respects.
